RAILGAP
RAILGAP (RAILway Ground truth and digital mAP) was started in 2021 and focuses on novel methodologies and toolsets for building high precision and accuracy GROUND TRUTH and DIGITAL TRACKSIDE MAP with integrity requirements, essential elements of an EGNSS train positioning system and a V&V Environment.
It is also the first project that will use commercial trains to collect massive data from the fields:
- GROUND TRUTH becomes essential to characterize, evaluate and assess any solutions with impact on the train position or train dynamics that are explored or still ongoing;
- On the other hand, the availability of a DIGITAL MAP also becomes mandatory to use ATO algorithms and new Train Position algorithms.

Target adopters of EGNOS and Galileo are the Connetcted and driverless cars, Train signaling, UAV for surveillance of roads and railways.
